To meet the needs of local people to remain constantly connected, the department council of the Allier is joining forces with La Poste to increase digital accessibility.

On 10 July 2018, a partnership agreement for the development of public Wi-Fi spots in the Allier department was signed in Marcillat-en-Combraille, the second local town to gain Wif@llier. The agreement was signed by the Allier departmental council, the regional office of Le Groupe La Poste and the departmental commission for local postal coverage in the Allier (CDPPT). The departmental council and Le Groupe La Poste are supporting towns in the Allier that wish to introduce public Wi-Fi spots. This initiative is backed by the French Mayors’ Association. The objective of this pertinent initiative is to offer a free public Wi-Fi service in local towns and, at the same time, to enable residents, tourists and visitors to go online. This is the aim of the Wif@llier plan, launched in the Allier department.
